Sunshine Recorder
Balaji Hydro Met Sunshine Recorder Model (BHM-M-SSR-M) is a standard meteorological instrument used for accurate measurement and recording of bright sunshine duration. The instrument works on the Campbell-Stokes principle, where a solid glass sphere focuses the sun’s rays onto a specially designed recording card, producing a burn trace that indicates the duration of bright sunshine. Both available models function in the same manner, with one offered in a marble base version and the other in an adjustable stand version for field convenience. Campbell-Stokes Sunshine Recorders are available in tropical, temperate, and polar patterns for different latitude ranges. In India, the Tropical Pattern Sunshine Recorder specified by the India Meteorological Department is commonly used and conforms to IS: 7243-1974. This model is suitable for locations lying between 0° N and 45° S latitude.

Sunshine Recorder
Sunshine Recorder is a precision meteorological instrument used for accurate measurement and recording of bright sunshine duration at a specific location. It is widely used in weather stations, meteorological observatories, agricultural research centres, environmental monitoring projects, climatological studies, and solar radiation observation applications. The instrument works on the proven Campbell-Stokes principle, where a solid glass sphere focuses the sun’s rays onto a specially designed recording card to produce a burn trace that indicates the total duration of bright sunshine during the day. The Sunshine Recorder is highly preferred for its simple construction, reliable performance, long service life, and accurate sunshine measurement under outdoor field conditions. Different patterns of sunshine recorders are available for tropical, temperate, and polar latitudes, making them suitable for use in various geographical regions. In India, the Tropical Pattern Sunshine Recorder is widely used for standard meteorological observations and sunshine duration measurement. This instrument is an ideal choice for meteorological departments, agricultural universities, climate research institutes, solar energy studies, and environmental monitoring stations requiring dependable sunshine recording equipment. -
